SoliRose is a ceremonial-music project, undertaken by Nia Witherspoon and Samia Abou-Samra between 2009 and 2015.  Known for their unconventional sound which mixed influences from the Levant, Spain and Turkey with West Africa and its diaspora in the Americas, SoliRose's intent was to enact home-making in diaspora, fortified by their ancestral lines.  Offering music to the traveling ceremonies led by Celia Herrera Rodriguez, Cherríe Moraga, and Alleluia Panis in La Semilla Caminante (which would later be produced by Intersection for the Arts), SoliRose has also performed widely in California, most notably at Theatre Artaud, The Lab, Eastside Arts Alliance, Brava Theatre, and La Peña.  SoliRose has also had the pleasure of performing internationally in Lebanon and Canada.
